You probably are wondering what about Don Quixote? But, no... I'm halfway through... only 450 more pages!

While I was hiking I read The Call of the Wild by Jack London.

Quick Overview

So, this is about a dog that gets kidnapped and sent to Alaska. It's name is Buck and he's pretty smart for a dog. He makes some friends, some enemies, and after it is all over... runs with a pack of wolves.

Quick Thoughts

So, I read this one because it was only 104 pages and i didn't want to haul a 1000 page monster 33 miles over mountains and through the woods. I haven't read this thing since I was in elementary, and the book still has a rubber stamp saying it was a present from my teacher Mrs. Rislov.

I would say that this is a fun book for children, but DANG it is FULL of violence. This dog kills other dogs, kills people, and hunts moose. Would I recommend it? Yeah, I would... you can read it in one sitting and it is pretty entertaining. I enjoyed it more as a kid though.

All in all: 6.0 / 10.

We had a great hiking and camping weekend :: Wednesday, September 3rd 2008
Troy, I and our friend Steve hiked the sky lone to sea trail Labor day weekend. All in all we covered about 30 miles over three days. The weather was perfect, but Troy and I were unprepared for the cooler nights and the rock hard ground. The hiking itself was pretty shaded and not to steep. We were met by 7 of our friends on Monday about 6 miles from the end. we all had lunch then made our way to the beach.

Yay! Jen visitd us :: Tuesday, August 19th 2008
My college friend Jen finally made it too CA after 4 years. We had a great time even though it was so short. On Friday I walked into a bar at the Pier to use the bathroom at 1pm and as i exited i saw a RA from NDSU at the bar. He was in town with his parents for a wedding. It was Brian (tall blonde) for all those who know him.

Anniversary at Costanoa :: Tuesday, August 12th 2008
Troy and I enjoyed a nice weekend camping by the ocean in a tent bungalow. We hiked a bit, made smores by the fireplace, sat in the hot tub and played scrabble and chess. We truly enjoyed the relaxing weekend and time to be away for a bit.
